Purpose
swaylock-plugin is a fork of the standard swaylock screen locking utility for Wayland. swaylock displays only a solid color or a static image, while swaylock-plugin allows any external program to draw the background of the lock screen, like an animation.
Another fork of swaylock is swaylock-effect, which focused on adding more visual effects like Gaussian blur. However, it does not support playing videos or running shaders. swaylock-plugin is the better choice if you want motion (animations) rather than just effects (blurring). These two forks serve distinct purposes.
There are two aur packages swaylock-plugin and swaylock-plugin-git. Considering that this tool is not updated frequently, I recommend using the release variant instead of the Git variant for stability.
