[Request] calamares
Package
https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/calamares
Purpose
I propose the inclusion of the Calamares Installer in the Chaotic-AUR repository. Calamares is a widely used open-source graphical system installer that is present in several Linux distributions. Currently, for Arch users, its installation involves manual compilation via AUR, which can be a time-consuming and complex process due to its numerous dependencies, especially in environments such as chroot when creating custom ISOs. Making Calamares available pre-compiled in Chaotic-AUR would greatly benefit the community by offering a more affordable and practical installation solution for live systems and new Arch installations, saving users time and resources.

@pedrodev2025 The fact that calamares needs to be customised before including in any distro needs to be known, randomly putting calamares will have no use, Quoting from calamares codeberg " Calamares is a Linux installer; users who install Linux on a computer will hopefully use it just once, to install their Linux distribution. Calamares is not a "ready to use" application: distributions apply a huge amount of customization and configuration to Calamares, and the target audience for this repository is those distributions, and the people who make those Linux distros.
" you are partially right, you can put config in /etc/calamares but it defeats the whole purpose (needs to be customised before making it ready for distribution). Hope it helps
I'm also curious, what's the specific use case here? At Garuda, we also use a patched version for example.
@pedrodev2025 I guess this will help Calamares PKGBUILD Simplified The process of compiling calamares from AUR is tedious because it compiles qt6-base that's really a long process. Causes a waste of time and resources. Hope it helps..
@mdhishamsayed qt6-base is already in extra though? Noticed this typo in depends: ''qt6-base
@Technetium1 Take a look at this AUR PACKAGE COMPILES QT6-BASE and the typo, fixed thanks 😊.
