Translation issue at https://chaoss.community/chaosscon-2025-eu/
When browsing the website in German, on the page https://chaoss.community/chaosscon-2025-eu/ the name "Peculiar C Umeh" gets translated, which it obviously shouldn't.
yes true, I'ld love to work on this issue @pdurbin @ElizabethN
@neuhaus @adityajha2005 thanks for bringing this up! We are using a Google Translate plug-in but I think we have the ability to make changes to the dictionary from which it pulls. I will take a look at this.
Also tagging @stzn - we were just talking about some issues with the Japanese translation that they would like to help fix 😁
@geekygirldawn asked me about this, and I found a link for fixing the encoding in the case of Precious' name: https://docs.gtranslate.io/en/articles/1349930-how-to-skip-translations
1. Skip translation using "notranslate" class
Note: This method works both for free and paid versions of GTranslate, whereas other methods described below are available only for our paid versions.
In order to prevent the translation of certain parts of your website, you can use class="notranslate" attribute for any HTML element.
For example:
<span class="notranslate">this text will not be translated</span>
Another example for page content:
<div class="notranslate">
<p>This paragraph will not be translated</p>
<div>The content of this block will not be translated</div>
</div>
