Commit collection looks to be broken for gitlab repositories

For all the gitlab repositories we have collected on there is no commit data but when I look at the repositories I can see that there are commits. I have a suspicion some other gitlab collection is failing as well but I need to look into it further

We should look at whether or not the commits are there, or whether its the materialized view rebuild that is missing.

There are not commits in the commits table for these repositories.

I plan to work on it soon-ish (probably december-ish)

This is not the kind of thing id recommend for someone who is new to the codebase because the specific problem hasnt been fully identified yet, but if you'd like to take a crack looking into or even fixing it, you are welcome to give it a try!
