Roadmaps alone are not enough. One another most important tool for a beginning developer is a simple example. With this simple program he could:

• Try the learned material.
• Develop further according to one of the desired roadmap. I suggest uploading here or referring to a quickstart project that could serve as a beginning for each VSLAM developer in this community.
