The documentation of the "Build API variables" is unclear. In particular, it is unclear how a (non-autotools) "configure" script is supposed to receive and handle the "srcdir" and "builddir" arguments. An example of a custom "configure" script that constructs a trivial Makefile based on required arguments would be extremely helpful to clarify the manifest.
