Port app to Kotlin

Open SchoolGuy opened this issue 4 years ago • 2 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem?

Currently we are using Java and there is nothing wrong with this. But since Google is more and more pushing towards Kotlin I think it is time to port WhereYouGo to Kotlin.

Describe the solution you'd like

Stated above. More information see here - https://developer.android.com/kotlin

Describe alternatives you've considered

Staying with Java is an option for maybe a mid-term future but long term we will need to do this anyway.

Additional context

My personal opinion on this is that we would be able to solve some problems with this but we would create different ones. However I think using the more modern language is in our case better because more and more apps are switching.

I am against it. There is no real technical need to do it. We would especially stay with java in order to use synergy effects with c:geo.

If we don't want to do it I am fine with it but I wanted at least to raise the question to discuss this. Same goes for c:geo by the way but if there is not interest for now I am totally fine if just close this.
