Media Player not available

Open poudenes opened this issue 3 years ago • 19 comments

Hi There,

Installed the integration. Reboot HA. Add the integration. I get all the sensors but the media player is not working

How to solve this?

poudenes avatar Feb 09 '21 18:02 poudenes

Are there any errors or warnings in your Home Assistant log for the component?

cgarwood avatar Feb 09 '21 18:02 cgarwood

none. Is there something within FKB that must be enabled to get the media player option? Everything else is working correct.

poudenes avatar Feb 10 '21 07:02 poudenes

After a second reboot I see this error msg:

2021-02-10 08:07:06 ERROR (SyncWorker_1) [homeassistant.components.homekit.util] media_player.galaxy_tab_a_media_player does not support any media_player features

poudenes avatar Feb 10 '21 07:02 poudenes

That error is related to homekit, not Fully Kiosk. The only option that should be required for the media_player entity is having the remote management setting enabled (which you would already have enabled to be able to set up the config entry anyway).

Could you share an example service call that you're using to interact with the media_player entity?

cgarwood avatar Feb 10 '21 13:02 cgarwood

same problem here, no error logs media player entity shows unknown. I can send a music to play but i can't stop it or raise/reduce volume

I have media_player into my homekit. So the error seems ok. The mediaplayer is unknown also in HA

IS there something to check in FKB Remote control settings to let the media player work? Im using Browser_mod also... so you can make device where HA is shown also a media player, can that be the problem??

(Update: im try now to disable mediaplayer for tablet in browser_mod to see if this will make sense

poudenes avatar Feb 12 '21 11:02 poudenes

Hi, on my installation I have the same issue. I'm using HA without homekit. browser_mod is completly uninstalled and the whole isystem is rebooted.

Thanks in advanced!

Wait, what is the media_player supposed to do? My state is also unknown but the services sent to media_player works

matt8707 avatar Feb 22 '21 13:02 matt8707

I have the same problem, the media_player entity is in "unknown" state. However, when I manually set it to "on" it all works until it refreshes itself.

dziobson avatar May 19 '21 10:05 dziobson

For what it's worth:

I have same issue. I too had browser_mod installed. I disabled that. I too suspected maybe some conflicts... So then I.. I removed all instances of FullyKiosk integration (removed my tablets). I removed HACS install. I rebooted. I re-installed FullyKiosk integration. I added back one tablet.

my tablet media player is showing unknown. I do have HomeKit but understand that shouldn't be at play here. It's not complaining like above. I think that message is related to Browser Mod myself.. I see all the other entities working and have successfully triggered the service: Restart

I cannot turn "on" the media devices. I disable and re-enable it but no love. Here's the yaml of my attempt to play media from local. BTW the service shows the button green but nothing happens (because it's not enabled).

service: fullykiosk.play_audio data: entity_id: media_player.fire_tablet_media_player url: /media/tts1.mp3 stream: 3

I have fussed with different url's: /media/local/tts1.mp3, media/tts1.mp3, and different streams, no luck. Again device is not enabled.

Since it's flagged as a bug just providing some more confirmation/context.

—UPDATE Found some tips on community.home-assistant and reformatted to this url: ‘service: fullykiosk.play_audio data: entity_id: media_player.fire_tablet_media_player url: https://192.168.2.80:8123/local/tts1.mp3 stream: 3’

Still not working.

Interestingly, I am able to use TTS service and target this entity and get successful play on device service: tts.google_say data: entity_id: media_player.fire_tablet_media_player message: This is a working test

Same for me.

Any workarounds or even a solution in sight?

bcutter avatar Sep 20 '21 19:09 bcutter

I am experiencing the same issue.

Looking at the media_player code I wonder if the state handling is missing.

I have looked at other media_player implementations and there I can see that some state handling has been implemented.

example: https://github.com/Sennevds/media_player.template/blob/master/custom_components/media_player_template/media_player.py

nanosonde avatar Nov 02 '21 20:11 nanosonde

Also seeing the same issue on both tablets I'm using with the integration.

I have browser_mod install which offers a media player which seems to work fine.

Any update on this one?

nanosonde avatar Dec 28 '21 14:12 nanosonde

The media_player entity as it currently exists is mostly a dummy entity for service calls to target, but you should still be able to use the normal media_player functions to play audio streams and set volume.

Fully doesn't expose anything to say if it's actively playing audio so I'm not sure that we'll be able to have it actually display a state 🙁

cgarwood avatar Dec 28 '21 14:12 cgarwood

Hi. Thx for your nice component. As of media_player, could we make it always "on" instead of "unavailable"? To be able to use in mediabrowser.

alexanderznamensky avatar May 18 '22 08:05 alexanderznamensky

Does anyone know if this issue has been fully resolved? I too am unable to see the media player for my additional tablets. The first tablet configured properly and is working as expected. But I have another 5 tablets, all identical in device, setup, etc and none of them are being picked up by HA/FKB integration.

Talk2Giuseppe avatar Jul 18 '22 17:07 Talk2Giuseppe

I am having this issue as well, but in my case, it was working for months, before it stopped working and just shows "unavailable".

It does report whether it is in use, and there is a setting for saying it is in use if audio is playing.... couldn't that work? image

Any movement on this? I'm still having an issue with this.

DaDre avatar Dec 25 '22 21:12 DaDre

Same issue here, fresh install today of the addon. I can get sound to play using this service, but the entity itself shows as unavailable.

service: fullykiosk.play_audio
data:
  entity_id: media_player.fire_tablet_media_player
  stream: 3
  url: http://myserver/mysound.mp3

poblabs avatar Feb 05 '23 19:02 poblabs

Reporting in.

I used the media_player with tts for over a year, to announce when my alarm is armed/disarmed, when motion was detected outside of my house. etc.

Randomly stopped working.

A few useful notes.

  1. https://www.fully-kiosk.com/en/

Make sure to enable the Advanced Web settings >> Enable Javascript Interface

image

  1. I updated to 1.50.1

When testing TTS, I can see a new error popping on the kiosk: "Wrong url or unsupported format". This is a step in the correct direction.

These two steps seems to have resolved my media player reporting as unavailable. Now, if i can get TTS to work...
