[Linux] Noticeable audio lag on most play sessions (2.0-25 and 2.0-26)

Open spacebanana420 opened this issue 2 years ago • 4 comments

Most of the times when I launch New Super Mario Bros U there is a noticeable audio latency and the delay varies a bit from session to session but the problem is there most of the times. There is a quick temporary fix to this problem as written below.

Tested Cemu versions

  • Experimental 2.0-25
  • Experimental 2.0-26
  • Both appimage and tarball builds were tested

How to reproduce

  • Open Cemu and play a game (in my case NSMB U) and navigate the main menu, the audio lag should be noticeable. The audio latency problem happens not all but most of the times and some sessions might have slightly higher or lower latency.

Quick fix

  • Go to settings and audio device. Switch to TV or gamepad audio, or disable the one you are using and re-enable it. This completely fixes the problem until you restart Cemu.

Important Cemu settings

  • I use Cubeb with 0ms latency, but I have also tested with higher latency values and the issue is still the same
  • I output the TV audio, never tested with gamepad

Important system information

  • Debian Linux (testing)
  • Kernel 6.1.4
  • x86_64 architecture
  • x11 display server
  • Pipewire (0.3.65-1)
  • pipewire-alsa, pipewire-jack, pipewire-pulse and wireplumber are also installed

I suspect that one of these 3 pipewire packages could be causing this problem

you completely missed the Specs part.

I posted relevant system information to this problem as I have a suspicion this problem is unique to pipewire setups, what else is missing?

Squall likely means your hardware. IE CPU, GPU, soundcard.

I can confirm that I'm noticing this bug on windows 11. Useful system specs: OS: Windows 11 Home CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics GPU: NVIDIA G-Force RTX 4060

I have the same issue playing with the Asus Rog Ally X. I tried downgrading Cemu… but every 2.* versions were showing latency in the audio… and it get worse the more I play. Haven’t tried 1.* versions… The quick fix method didn’t worked for me in Windows 11… I tried running cemu in Bazitte too, but the problem remain
