Censorship Circumvention doesn't work?
Hello. Thanks for the update, now there are no issues with the database, it seems. But I can't get the anti-censorship feature to work in the latest version. What did you change there? Are logs needed to troubleshoot this? So I set the 'use bypass dns for bypassed apps', set the app I want to route via it to bypass firewall and dns (and clicked the toggle to bypass the proxy), and set the bypass dns. Maybe I have something configured incorrectly? Thanks. Please let me know if you need logs to troubleshoot this.
Which websites don't load, if you okay revealing?
The Configure -> Anti-censorship feature has nothing to do with DNS (today, it manipulates TCP & TLS connections only). So, I doubt any of the DNS settings have caused it to fail. Although, if DNS itself fails, then the Anti-censorship measures on TCP and TLS connections wouldn't even have had the chance to run...
Please let me know if you need logs to troubleshoot this.
Will you please look at entries for the website that doesn't work in "Network" and "DNS" logs in Configure -> Logs?
- Use the search bar to filter for a given app name or domain name.
- Failing DNS entries usually have a ⚠️ emoji next to it.
- Failing Network entries usually have a yellow coloured border or
0bupload 🔺 /0bdownload 🔻. - Tapping on these entries will bring up a bottomsheet with more information about the entry. The footer of this bottomsheet would contain detailed error message, if any. You can share these here (that footer text is copy-able with a long tap or screenshots also work), if you're comfortable.
It's weird. The proxy app, if configured, is able to use the Censorship Circumvention feature.(if loopback proxy forwarder apps is enabled) But trying to connect to the same 'website' via other apps (not the proxy app) results in a timeout (in the App Logs) In the regular Logs it just shows a green sign that everything is ok, but nothing actually works. There are no issues with DNS resolving. It's as if all apps but the proxy forwarder app don't get routed via the 'Anti-censorship' feature, in fact I tried different sites, none get unblocked. So, only the proxy forwarder app works correctly for me...
Any idea why only the proxy app is successfully able to use the 'Anti-censorship' mode? I tried all sorts of reconfiguration, but it didn't get fixed...
Without logs or error msgs (see), it is hard to know.
If you're technical enough, perform the steps where the blocked website doesn't work with Anti-censorship mode after you set the App logs log level to "Very verbose" from Configure -> Settings -> App logs. The default log level is "Error", so you'd have to change it to "Very verbose" by tapping on the filter icon in the search bar of the App logs UI (note that, the log level will automatically switch back to "Error" after 3 hours).
I think I captured the correct error logs that would help you. How can I send them to you securely?
Or did you recieve them? Does clicking the 'send error log via email' feature send the logs to you without sending an email? (just by clicking the 'Send' button)
Have you mentioned this GitHub issue in the email body or subject (reply with this link in the body: https://github.com/celzero/rethink-app/issues/2345)? If not, can you do so (it'll make it easier for me to search my inbox, which is an unmitigated mess).
@ignoramous, I sent the email to [email protected] with the link to this issue and just in case, the title.
Any updates? @ignoramous
Hi: Sorry, I am yet to look at the logs, but I'll do so tomorrow (hopefully, I remember to). Thanks for reminding me.

No worries!
Closing as the censorship circumvention feature seems to work, it was/is an unrelated issue to it that was causing problems for me.
