Logs mixed up after uninstalling apps
I am testing RethinkDNS on a test device. I installed several apps, e.g. Signal Messenger. After that I uninstalled some apps, also the mentioned Signal Messenger. I installed some other apps, e.g. the Flow app from Bosch.
All traffic from the Flow app is blocked, because traffic of new installed apps shall be blocked. When selecting "Apps", filtering "blocked" and selecting the newly installed "Flow" app it shows that access to cdn.signal.org was blocked.
Also when selecting "Protocols" and filtering for "signal" it shows several accesses to cdn.signal.org combined with the icon of the "Flow" app.
Those accesses were in the past, when the Signal Messenger actually was installed.
It seems RethinkDNS uses some kind of internal id for the apps which mixes up when apps are uninstalled and other apps are installed after that. The newly installed app seems to get the internal id of the previously installed app.
@cybgh7, thanks for reporting this issue. It would be helpful if you could post some screenshots related to the problem to make debugging easier.
Sure if it helps.
First the "Signal Messenger"-app was installed. After starting it, the app tried to contact "cdn.signal.org", last at 08:09:54. After that the app was uninstalled. The access logs are still on the phone, but a wrong app icon is displayed, namely of the app "Flow", which was installed later on (this is not nice, but actually not a big problem IMHO, because the app name "Signal" is still displayed correctly):
The app "Flow" was installed at approx. 08:38:56 and directly tried to contact config.mapbox.org:
The app "Flow" is still installed. When now displaying the app properties within RethinkDNS it shows that the app contacted "cdn.signal.org" which is definately wrong and irritating:
