Here's what I see on in the interface on my vanity site. No "use camera" or similar option that I can see:

As compared to this “take photo” option on this very Github interface that we're chatting on. Is Backdrop showing you guys this kind of interface? ...which pulls up the camera....

Provide a "System metrics" entry in the status page, to show disk space, RAM usage, and database size
