Also, it would be nice to add some clarity around the 'zero_back' option. From my tests, it seems like the tool still assigns a 'clump value' to the zero cells......

I don't suspect it is a nodata problem as there are NO nodata cells in any of my inputs. I suspect the problem is DEM regions without flow path connectivity...

Thank you for the reply and apologies for the confusion. The question is not which is preferable, but the application of the DEM. I am conditioning for a LISFLOOD model...
