@pllim That makes sense, it was around when 5.0 came out that that failure started, I just never got the time to figure out why it was breaking.

This bug has been temporarily patched by simply not using the affected astropy function for the versions of astropy where it causes problems. This is not a long term solution....

I can't reproduce this problem, I can write the sonified object both before and after playing it. Can you describe more specifically the steps you take?
