Contrast CDK unit testing with using Cloud Formation Guard CLI?

I can't find any documentation which compares CDK unit testing with CloudFormation Guard CLI. Is it possible to update a documentation for either to direct engineers when each tool should be used, what is their overlap, gaps, pros and cons etc?
