future feature?: Drag'n'drop of a Citation to blank space of Timeline
When diagramming a citation, you can clipboard a Citation and use Drag'n'drop to quickly source a series of existing Events. So from an Obit on a Person with existing Birth, Last Residence, Death & Burial events, you can quickly create a Newspaper Citation, clipboard it and apply the Citation to those events.
But if one Event is missing, then the process for adding the event and sourcing it is a lot of steps. (Open Person editor, add Event, choose type, enter date & place, drag the citation to the sources tab, save the event, save the Edit Person.)
If the citation could be dropped on the header, white space or a "missing event" placeholder of the timeline, could a New Event be created that inherits the date of the citation and has the Citation pre-attached? Then the user only has to select the Type & place before saving. If the place holder had a couple landing zones for Event types... like it sees the standard type is missing (and has landing zones for missing (Birth, Marriage, Death, Burial & Selectable) then only Place would have to be added.
So, if I have a obit listing 7 sibs with 4 living in various places and 3 who have died, you could clipboard the Citation, set the Selectable Event to "Residence", click through the 4 living sibs and drop the Citation on the Selectable, choose places, then click through the 3 dead and drop the citation on any existing Death event or drop on the "Death" placeholder and add "Before" to the date if no Death event existed.
Similarly, dropping a Citation on a header, white space, placeholder of a "Parents and Siblings" or "Spouses and Children" might allow a new Person to be added with a new dated Event with pre-attached citation.
a "missing event" placeholder... If the place holder had a couple landing zones for Event types...
This is an interesting idea. I'll look closer at this request but probably a bit further down the line.
