Installing Windows version (vina_1,2.5_win) with a glitch

I am trying to install vina_1.2.5_win, and the program seems to open briefly but then does not. Would you have an idea what I could do about it? Thanks

The file is an executable file meant to be run in the command line.

Closing as resolved. For anyone looking for a longer answer:

the program seems to open briefly but then does not.

Based on your description you were able to run the programs. No additional installation required. However, both vina and vina_split are command line executables, which are meant to be used by command lines from terminal. They themselves don’t provide a graphical interface. Therefore, the expected behavior is to see the command window pop out and disappear.

To get used to general command line usage, especially on Windows, some Youtube videos might help. Just take a very quick look at any videos that explains the available options on Windows to run command-line programs and pick any one from PowerShell, WSL, or Windows’ own Command Prompt (CMD). It’s possible to run Vina on any of them.

To get familiar with general docking procedures, as of today, we provide Google notebooks that’s install-free and showcase basic protocol from molecule preparation, docking and export the results: https://autodock-vina.readthedocs.io/en/latest/colab_examples.html

To get started with command-line usage of Vina, see these tutorials: https://autodock-vina.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docking_basic.html
