Usage text needs explanation for "*"

The usage text marks required parameters with "*". However, this is a bit confusing, since "*" often means "zero or more".

There should be an explanation for the current notation, e.g. at the top or bottom of the usage text, whenever there are one or more required parameters, the text "* = required" should be added.
