  • [ ] Don't hightlight First word in [^1]: First rest... differently.
  • [ ] Don't highlight continuation lines as code.
  • [ ] Otherwise feature parity with links #9

  • [ ] Make them foldable (and folded by default unless hovered?). This would make footnotes quite usable for comments on text.

Can Atom's excellent pandoc-flavored-markdown mode [https://github.com/leipert/language-pfm] be somehow used with CodeMirror?
