Inconsistant naming

Review all public symbols and make sure they follow patterns. Some have v- at the front, some dont, some say 'args' some say 'variables' (are they either of those? or are they parameters?)

Dump collected info here and sort.

We will need to make varjo.compat & vari.compat packages that hold all the removed names so folks like @mfiano dont get fucked over
