Missing roads are because of the BBOX I've used to download OSM data that intersects and left out all that info so that's correct. Anyway I've imported entire rheinland Geofabrik...

Base map I've used is CARTO Positron. You can use in QGIS adding as XYZ Tiles server: `https://cartodb-basemaps-a.global.ssl.fastly.net/light_all/{z}/{x}/{y}.png`
