Readme could use some updates

Readme should be updated. And/or I could consider creating a virtualenv.

  • old test commands rather than py.test; doesn't even work without installing mock. should include virtualenv instructions. also should mention that CircleCI will report on pull requests.
  • out-of-date installation instructions have been removed but proper new ones haven't been added.
