UI edit does not take effect

Open Quickshadow10 opened this issue 7 months ago • 2 comments

Description: When replacing the darkmode line in vs code and saving it, the expected change does not take effect even if notepad++ was closed at the time. The next time notepad++ is closed, the GUICOnfig name="Darkmode" reverts do default and the selected theme is de-selected (but still applicable through the configurator)

Attempted fixes: -Only editing through vs code -keeping notepad++ open during the change -keeping notepad++ closed during the change

I am sorry, that is strange behavior. I wish Notepad++ didn't make it so hard to work with the customization. Is there anything unusual or different about your installation of Notepad++?

I cannot replicate the behavior using the official installer, nor getting the latest version from scoop in portable mode.

What version of Notepad++ are you using? I notice that v8.8[.1] introduce several new dark mode theming options. I will try to include those in the theme today, after I play around with some color options.

Perhaps some interaction with versions or an invalid key is reverting your configuration. Can you try with a completely default config? You should be able to backup config.xml, and delete it to force regenerating.

I installed via chocolatey, also no problem, Notepad ++ is not a huge part of my workflow, it is the latest version as of 2 days ago. I will try that troubleshooting process tomorrow or thursday but I have a bunch of stuff to do right now.

Thanks!

were you able to identify anything? Did starting with a fresh configuration change anything?

Closing for now, because I can't reproduce this. Feel free to follow up if issue still arise.
