Carpentries copyright on non-Carpentries lessons
I stumbled upon this lesson this week. It is not an official Software Carpentry lesson, but it has the SWC logo because it was part of the styles repo used to scaffold the lesson.
Is this a problem? I realize the new style is more minimalistic, but it still has the copyright.
I don't think there is no easy fix from our end. Most of the other cases where people have used our template removed this copyright notice. The files are in their repository and under their control.
The author may have chosen to keep it here to give us credit for the template and not the content too.
If others have ideas on how to best address this, let us know!
Maybe a flag that's in the info part of config so it's easier to find to change (like near the title)?
You could always /suggest/or moidfy the template so/ that people follow the approach taken here:
https://vuw-ecs-kevin.github.io/offline-capable-lesson/
and yes, as Francois will be aware, a more up-to-date rendintion of the approach outlined there is coming, real soon now!
Having said that, I notice that my two-year-old rendition is using the same style as the "errant" lesson Rayna found, whereas the new one will have modified the more recent "two-lines-of-copyright" style.
Double the "de-branding" fun?!
So that, more up-to-date, rendition is now visible here:

Thanks for the link @pawsey-kbuckley. This looks like a really cool lesson, and I like how you've modified the footer :)
