Customising a theme - an episode on its own

Open anenadic opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

I am opening this issue so we can discuss if "Customizing a Theme" (currently a section in Wrap-up episode) should be an episode on its own. This is what we are working towards the whole lesson and our "Capstone project" so feels like it deserves an episode on its own and not to be hidden under "wrap-up" where it could potentially be missed/skipped.

Almost feels like the "Wrap-up" episode could be renamed to "Customizing a Theme" (or something like "Reusing and Customising a Website Theme") to include a summary of what we have covered so far + Capstone project and the actual new Wrap-up episode could contain pointers to installing and running sites locally and further resources (so make it very brief). Up for discussion :-)!

At meeting on 2022-02-07 we decided that this should be a separate episode before the wrap-up:

  • Extract the bits starting from the “Jekyll Website Directory Structure” onwards into a separate lesson and keep the wrap-up episode very short
  • Episode title suggestion: “Practice Customizing a (Website) Theme” + add a note at the top that this episode is to practice what was learned using the lesson and that it can be potentially skipped if people run out of time

Can we also include some discussion on license and attribution, and built-in themes in the new wrap up episode?

These were mentioned in #189 and not added to the themes section.
