Data loss after opening preferences?

Open PaddiM8 opened this issue 5 years ago • 1 comments

I had a file opened with some text, then I moved the file to another directory without re-opening it. I continued to edit it, and I did press CTRL+S several times, so I assumed it just recreated the file where it was before. Then I opened Preferences and apparently it opened as a file. I tried to get back to my file, but it didn't show up in "Go -> To Recent File" or anything. It isn't in the original folder either. The file in the new location hasn't been updated(as expected). Did I lose my changes? I have no sidebar and no option to open one. Caret Version 3.4.6.

Hi,

If you still haven't found your changes I can help you as Caret does have a backup mechanism which saves all the files contents you are editing. Just let me know on what operating system you are and I can send you steps for searching for the lost changes.

Additionally, we have made changes to how Preferences work which will be included in the next major release which should prevent from this happening ever again.

Thanks for reporting writing to us.
