why do you use `background-color: transparent` with android ?

I wonder why you use this css rule since it doesn't work, I just tested on three devices completly different : Panasonic FS-L1, a Samsung Galaxy tablette and an old Android phone. It works with display: none on the HTML tag but never with background-color: transparent.
