I think it would be reasonable to have an option to display the tunings at the top of the score (particularly for printing purposes). Guitar Pro does something similiar IIRC.

Yeah, I think the status bar is the right place for it. IIRC the original v1.7 had the total beat count vs time signature in the status bar too.

I think this was difficult to implement at the time, since the midi player was generating midi events and handling repeats / directions on the fly. That's since been reworked...
