Movement is extremely sluggish on lower-end hardware

Party moves slower than key-press repeat, causing them to sprint off into the distance after you release the direction key.

This is an item logged from the To-Do and was originally reported by ADoS. If you are familiar with or can recreate this bug, please provide details here.

The bug here is more that they move too slow than that they continue moving after the key is released.

Looks like this only really affects debug builds, at least on Windows (where it's really bad) though possibly a little even on Mac.
