I am also experiencing this issue with the same board as @kalon33 after making the changes suggested by @Perchindroid . Could I be missing something else?

Fixed! Simply needed to comment out the default setup file: https://github.com/Bodmer/TFT_eSPI/blob/master/User_Setup_Select.h#L20-L22
