Cake wallet doesn't work with Fulcrum electrum server

Running fulcrum 1.7.0 with litecoind 0.21.2.1, which works with electrum-ltc, but when I try to connect Cake (4.4.5) it gets stuck on 'starting sync' though the nodes show 'green' on the nodes tab. There is no error message displayed in either Cake or the Fulcrum server logs.

I was previously using spesmilo's electrumx as my electrum server but it does not work at all with litecoind versions 0.21.2 and later. They seem to be waiting for a litecoin dev to fix, but nobody on the litecoin side seems concerned.

Anyway I'm guessing the fulcrum incompatibility is a Cake issue since electrum-ltc works fine with it, but if nothing else I'm wondering what Cake is running for their in-house litecoin electrum nodes so I can consider using the same solution.
