Add option to mute/silence notification sounds played by Cairo Desktop
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I usually mute/silence my notifications, but allow other sounds (eg. YouTube) to play normally.
Windows Settings>System>Notifications>Notifications- UNCHECK
Allow notifications to play sounds - Turn ON
Do not disturb
When something happens that generates a notification, the message appears in the Cairo Menu Bar (which is great, thank you!), but Cairo also generates a sound using the default System Sound. If Cairo Desktop is not running, there are no notification banners and no notification sounds from Windows.
FYI: I'm running Windows 11 24H2 with the latest updates and Cairo Desktop 0.4.407.
Describe the solution you'd like
An option in the Cairo Settings for Notifications that Mute Notification Sounds, and then, you know, for Cairo Desktop to simply not play the sound(s).
Describe alternatives you've considered I've tried disabling notification sounds for specific apps in the Windows Settings, and that does not work either.
Is there something else that I've missed perhaps?
Hi @starfishpatkhoo! The notification sounds should play from the "System Sounds" session, have you tried muting that in the mixer?

Ah yes, that does indeed mute the sounds from Cairo Desktop... BUT .. that mutes ALL system sounds. For example, USB plug/unplug sounds also get muted, and those, I really want to be alerted to.
Normally in Windows 11, you can set certain app notifications to be muted and certain apps to not. Like most modern phones today. So I hope that either:
- Cairo be in that list of apps in Windows 11 and follow that process somehow, or, ...
- Cairo checks that list in Windows and follows those settings accordingly, or, ...
- Just have a toggle in the Settings to not make any system sounds in Cairo and have an if statement inside of Cairo...
I feel the 3rd approach is the easiest to develop.. ^_^
