Fix type definitions

This package uses module.exports = to export its values. To type this correctly using TypeScript, the type definitions should specify export =. However, it was typed using export default.

While at it, I also removed the need to maintain an npm project in a subdirectory.

I also removed .npmignore. This is redundant, as package.json specifies files.
