Buggy display on narrow window

Long path in a narrow window causes abnormal display as shown in the screenshot below.

I have this issue whenever the first line of the prompt (i.e., everything but the $) wraps onto a second line.

I was also having this issue and came here to report it. I ran clear to get a clear screenshot of my terminal and this seems to have removed the unintended colored bar. I tried this on a few active terminal windows I have and all of them responded the same. This is on iTerm2/OSX.
