Add option to show Bookmarks

It would be nice to show the bookmarks toolbar just on the new tab page. Is this possible with WebExtensions?

It's not possible to show the bookmarks toolbar via a WebExtension. But I could show bookmarks. Then the questions would be:

  • which bookmarks
  • how much bookmarks
  • how should it looks like
  • …

Showing the bookmarks from the bookmarks toolbar folder would be decent initially. The are other bookmark folders that could optionally be shown as well. Showing the bookmarks toolbar might not be possible, but displaying just the bookmarks could be made to resemble it. A grid might be a nice option as well for bookmarks.
