(v6) Study authentication is slow when using saml

When testing v6 on a saml authenticated portal, we noticed that the studies/tags endpoint is very slow for portal with a large study set. I tested different queries and found the response time is slow but it's linear, e.g. 1 study will respond almost immediately 700 studies spend 2.5 mins 1400 studies will trigger the 5mins http request timeout limit (not sure where this limit has been set)
