Bold text not appearing in cards in Anki 2.1.44 or .40

I noticed this was occurring when I upgraded to Anki 2.1.44 and have since downgraded to 2.1.40 but the issue persists. Planning to downgrade again to 2.1.35 to see if that remedies the issue. These cards were working well on an earlier version of Anki 2.1.

My cards are formatted as:

  • Question
    • Answer with part in bold
