This is really nice work: comparisons would be great

I think it would be useful to compare geometrically-exact theories with some ad hoc approaches, such as co-rotational. Both in terms of accuracy and efficiency. I have been planning to have a look at that for some time. I do have the co-rotational implementation of a nonlinear elastic beam (https://github.com/PetrKryslUCSD/FinEtoolsFlexBeams.jl), what was missing was the geometrically exact theory and implementation. Now there is one! :)

Would there be any interest in a bake-off?

To be honest, I'm not sure I have the time to invest in a bake-off. I put this package together because I needed a large deflection beam model in order to couple with aerodynamic models. I'm willing to answer questions and/or update this package as necessary though.
