Syncing annotations with the remarkable tablet

The Remarkable tablet is a popular e-reader with quite an active hacker community: https://github.com/reHackable/awesome-reMarkable. It would be really nice to be able to sync annotations both ways as long as they are compatible. It seems that it is at least possible to extract annotation from remarkable with https://github.com/lucasrla/remarks. I'm not sure if it is possible to upload them. Is there an API to add annotations to polar? Even one way sync from remarkable to polar would be useful for creating flashcards. If there is an API for adding annotations, this should be fairly straightforward to implement as far as I can tell.
