Reduce memory footprint during the initial sync

Title says it all. Pruning some articles from the server fixes the issue.

Both the initial and follow-up incremental sync happen entirely in-memory, so OOM is the most likely explanation. I'm planning to optimize the initial sync, but there is no ETA on that.
