For that situation where you're tracing lots of buildings you should use Copy Tags and Paste. That's the reason Paste is much more prominent than Copy Tags 😉

Based on comments from other people who have implemented this feature it isn’t 100% reliable. That’s a good idea to tie it to the GPS being active.
