Feature request: Add browserpass-native to WinGet / Windows Package Manager

Open isaacchua opened this issue 3 months ago • 1 comments

Windows Package Manager, better known as WinGet, is now the popular way for Windows power users to install and maintain software on Windows OSes. Similar to package managers on Linux, it allows for searching, installing, and upgrading using the command line.

Because browserpass-native already has an MSI-based installer, adding it to WinGet is quite straightforward. The steps are described here on Microsoft's website: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/package-manager/package/

It will be great if browserpass-native can be installed using WinGet in the future.

Thanks for sharing, didn't know about this at all!

It looks like anyone may submit packages (doesn't have to be the original author), and I believe it's better if this is done by a person who will actually use this distribution method, and have some stake and motivation to fix any issues - just like it's already the case with all Linux distros who distribute browserpass.

Would you be interested to submit the package and be the point of contact? No worries if not, let's keep this issue open and see if this interests someone else.
