Chromium, Linux - problems after detaching tab into new window.

Open ebikt opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

General information

  • Operating system + version: Linux - Debian testing
  • Browser + version: Chromium 83.0.4103.116
  • Information about the host app: host app works fine
  • Information about the browser extension: Installed via google
    • Installed: from chrome webstore
    • Browserpass extension version as reported by your browser: 3.7.1

If you are getting an error immediately after opening popup, have you followed the Configure browsers documentation section?

Exact steps to reproduce the problem

  1. Open several diferent tabs, urls all of them should match something different in browserpass for easier debugging of the problem.

  2. Open new window of browser by grabbing last opened tab and moving it outside of window (or by opening new window from menu, but do not open any site after creating new window).

  3. Switch to old window to any tab that already has loaded site that can be matched. Try clicking icon to obtain passwords for that site. Try different tabs (without touching urls that are currently loaded in tabs).

What should happen?

Browserpass shouid match url of current tab in window where the icon is pressed.

What happened instead?

Browserpass matches url of curent tab of newest (last opened) window. User has to trigger domain change in any tab (loading different page on same domain does not suffice). Then browserpass icon starts matching on all tabs and windows properly again.

There are also different scenarios, some are more annoying, but I cannot reproduce them now (seems that there is some sort of race condition).

Can confirm. When I open more Vivaldi windows, on hotkey extension popup gets opened in wrong window (no matter on what desktop it is). Other window doesn't have to be detached, it happens also when new window is open.

Any chance of fixing this?

  • Arch linux (xfce), Browserpass 3.7.2., Vivaldi 6.2.3105.58.

Hello, I may be wrong but I think it's a bit different from the original bug, we aren't really in control how a browser decides to react on the hotkey...

It does seem that other extensions opening popups are behaving the same. What a shame.
