Hey! Nice to see you've decided to work on this.
So what we would need is to build a couple of packages for different GNU/Linux distros. At least we'd need Debian/Ubuntu 32 bits, Debian/Ubuntu 64 bits, Fedora family 32 bits and Fedora family 64 bits.
A very important requisite is that the package build process should be automatable, which means you'll need to write a script that builds all these packages. In this way, every time we release a new version, we can just run this script and all packages will be built automatically.
