Podcast feed in HTML format?

Open mcrot opened this issue 5 years ago • 1 comments

Thanks for publishing poca, I've just installed poca on my raspberry pi. It's working fine for feeds in XML format, but now want to use a feed which seems to be provided as HTML, here is an example:

https://www.deutschlandfunknova.de/podcasts/download/netzbasteln

The same format is used for all podcasts from this radio channel.

When subscribing to this URL in poca, no meta data and no episodes are found. Is it possible to use such an URL or is there another way to get poca working with this podcast?

Sorry for the lateness of the reply.

I followed the link - and then checked Firefox for any discovered RSS feeds. It found me this: https://www.deutschlandfunknova.de/podcast/netzbasteln which seems to be a pretty standard RSS feed from the looks of it (haven't tested)

A few things worth mentioning, though:

  • More and more sites think podcasts mean Apple/Google solutions and so they hide or forget about RSS feeds
  • Firefox recently dropped support for RSS feeds (https://www.zdnet.com/article/end-nears-for-rss-firefox-64-to-drop-built-in-support-for-rss-atom-feeds-says-mozilla/) and Chrome too, I think. So that makes them a lot harder to find.
  • Personally, I have installed an add-on that recreates the old RSS feed display and RSS feed spotter. Maybe it's just that that you're missing?
