Hi Robertson, Greetings.

I am a new bee using eXist-db and Lace2. I don’t find any video tutorials or help. I need to OCR English and Ancient Green text OCR. 1 Below is the technical information on my process:

  1. Go to 'http://localhost:8080/exist/apps/dashboard/admin#/packagemanager'
  2. Click on '.Package Manager'
  3. Click on 'UPLOAD' or DROPZONE
  4. And located the "Lace-0.6.15.xar"
  5. How and where do I upload the scanned images files .png (MacOS in this video(https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uw4Swq0_hGGSksvNEwyes1sYwil36UVy/view) is not showing any image (.jpg, png, tif, etc. file uploading)

Context:

  • OS: Windows 10 10.0 amd64
  • eXist-db version: 5.2.0
  • Java Version: Java8u261 (32 and 64)
  • Explorer: Chrome Version 85.0.4183.102 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional context

  • How is eXist-db installed? JAR installer
  • Any custom changes in e.g. conf.xml? No

Please help!

Thanks, Sachin Pradhan

I've been discussing this with @sachinrewa on email. As a work-around I've suggested that these images be straightened first with something like Scantailor and then processed with kraken and with the Lace-tools script 'xarify.sh'.

It's clear, though, that I need to make a one-stop-shop OCR and package python package, and I'm putting my efforts into that in the coming couple of weeks.
