What is the difference between fate probability and ancestor probability?

Sorry for the naive question, but what is the difference between fate probabilities and the ancestor probabilities derived from trajectories? I assume cells which show high fate probabilities for a particular cell set at a given time point should also show high ancestor probabilities under the trajectory calculated for the same cell set and time point?

Fate probabilities go forward in time, but ancestor probabilities go backward.
