Track number of significant figures used for AF

Open ch-kr opened this issue 5 months ago • 0 comments

A user wrote in to the forum asking about the number of significant figures used in the browser. Phil investigated and found that the variant pages appear to be rounding AF to 4 significant figures. Example variant: image

According to Phil, there is no centralized logic setting the number of significant figures associated with AF; i.e., AF rounding occurs on a case-by-case basis.

Could someone on the team investigate the various roundings of AF so that I (or someone else, if I'm out) can write a help page describing the number of sigfigs/precision used in the browser?

Here are some other locations of AF:

  • Gene pages, e.g. https://gnomad.broadinstitute.org/gene/ENSG00000105227?dataset=gnomad_r4 image
  • Region pages, e.g. https://gnomad.broadinstitute.org/region/19-40393766-40414793?dataset=gnomad_r4 image
