Why is `struct timeval` (still) used at all might be the question... instead of a plain, standard C or C++ way of dealing with "time"?

Can you provide more details, please? Which camera model are you using, connected to which system, which HW, which OperatingSystem? Which application is causing the problem, how have you started...
Isn't the photo on the right over-exposed? There is a (much) brighter light-source in the door - will be harder for feature-extraction.
Where the cameras calibrated before? Both models are the same, i.e. both are auto-focus or both fixed-focus? Clean lense?
