How to handle when layer instance fails to be saved to state

After spawning or killing a layer, successfully or not we save that information to the layerform state.

This step is crucial for us to be able to later spawn layers on top of it or kill it.

Currently, we delete all the temporary directories we create in order to perform the spawn/kill process, that means that it is literally impossible for the user to even try to fix the issue by hand.
